Escape Run
Endless side-scrolling runner. Jump over ground obstacles, slide under floating hazards, and survive as speed increases. Offline-first, 100% client-side Vanilla JS with procedural Web Audio API sound effects.
Use Cases
Escape Run is an endless side-scrolling runner built for quick reflex sessions. Players guide a runner forward automatically, jumping over ground spikes, sliding under floating crates, and collecting coins along the way. As the run continues, the speed steadily increases, raising the challenge and testing reaction time. It is ideal for developers, students, and casual gamers who want a fast, keyboard- or touch-friendly platformer break with no downloads, no accounts, and no network requests.
Because Escape Run runs entirely in the browser using the HTML5 Canvas API and procedural Web Audio API sound effects, it works offline, protects privacy by keeping all state local, and loads instantly on mobile and desktop alike — with zero external assets to download.
How-To
- Objective: Survive as long as possible by dodging obstacles. Jump over ground spikes and slide under floating crates. Collect gold coins for bonus points. Every meter of safe running adds to your score, and the speed increases over time so difficulty ramps up automatically.
- Desktop controls: Use the Up Arrow, W, or Space keys to jump over ground obstacles. Use the Down Arrow or S keys to slide under floating hazards.
- Mobile controls: Tap the on-screen ⬆ Jump and ⬇ Slide buttons beneath the canvas to perform the corresponding actions.
- Rules: Hitting a ground spike or flying into a floating crate ends the game immediately. Sliding under an air hazard lets you pass safely. Coins grant bonus points when collected.
- Starting and restarting: Click Start Game to begin. After a crash, the button becomes Retry to launch a new run. Use Reset to clear the current run without driving.
- Audio: Jump sweeps, coin chimes, and collision noises are generated procedurally via the Web Audio API. Click Mute to silence all sound.
Escape Run is a 100% client-side game built with Vanilla JS and the Canvas API. No server, no network, no uploads, and no external assets — play it anywhere, entirely offline.
